In the world of hot, corrosive, and high-demand service environments, your equipment needs more than just standard protection—it needs a coating designed to survive the toughest conditions, applied by experts who know exactly what they’re doing.

That’s where Curran International delivers.

Engineered Coatings for Extreme Conditions

For fabrication projects where low-cost mild steel is preferred for its design and cost advantages, fluoropolymers and thermoplastics offer unmatched corrosion protection.

Common options include:

  • PFA, PTFE, and ETFE (fluoropolymers)
  • Baked phenolic (thermoplastic)

Applied in multiple thin coats and heat-cured to form a dense protective barrier, these coatings:

  • Slow permeation of aggressive chemicals
  • Protect carbon steel and lower-grade stainless steel
  • Perform exceptionally in hot organic and inorganic acids, as well as many solvents

They’re ideal for:

  • Welded pressure vessels
  • Internal components and valves
  • Chemical transport containers (ISO Tainers)

Precision Application is Everything

The performance of these coatings depends as much on the expertise of the applicator as it does on the chemistry itself. Curran’s team follows manufacturer-certified application procedures, ensuring every layer—from surface prep to final cure—meets exacting standards.

Our process includes:

  • Controlled surface profiling
  • Primer, mid, and top coat application to precise film thicknesses
  • Quality control (QC) records documenting every step
  • Oven curing at temperatures above 650°F

We’ve even worked with leading coating manufacturers—Chemours, Saekaphen, Carboline—to develop procedures for applying these engineered coatings inside small-diameter heat exchanger tubes, a challenge few can master.

Specialized Techniques and Equipment

Hot flocking is one of our specialized application methods, where heat-resistant technicians apply coating powders to hot steel substrates at near-melt temperatures (around 530°F), building up multiple coats for maximum durability.

Our natural gas-fired curing oven—a massive 5,800 cubic feet—is one of the largest on the Gulf Coast. It can fit multiple exchanger bundles, large vessels, or long piping runs, ensuring uniform curing for even the largest projects.

For equipment too big to move, we bring the heat to you with portable gas-fired burners—perfect for bake-curing coatings inside large, insulated vessels, such as 8’ x 20’ ISO Tainers used for chemical transport.

Every Day, We Coat for Severe Service

From heat exchanger bundles to large storage tanks, Curran International applies state-of-the-art engineered polymer coatings every day, backed by decades of experience in the most demanding industries.
