In 1990, Ed and Roseline Curran were looking to grow their company beyond steam turbine maintenance. They needed someone mechanically skilled, disciplined, and ready to take on challenging field work. They found that person in Jason Kolman.

Fast forward 25 years, and Jason now leads a large, talented field organization as Field Operations Manager at Curran International — a global provider of maintenance services for power plants, refineries, and petrochemical facilities.

From Small Crews to Global Operations

In Curran’s early years, the field team averaged just eight to ten professionals, primarily servicing power plants. Under Jason’s leadership, the company’s capabilities expanded to include plant fixed equipment maintenance, protective coatings, and epoxy cladding for condensers.

Today, during peak turnaround season, Jason directs more than 50 field employees — including supervisors, foremen, and technicians — often overseeing multiple project crews at once. His role requires deep technical knowledge, precise planning, and the ability to navigate complex international projects on 24/7 schedules.

A Proven Track Record in Cost Savings

One of the aspects Jason values most about his work is being part of a team that delivers measurable value. “Every year, Curran saves its customers tens of millions of dollars by repairing and upgrading systems they thought they would need to replace,” he explains.

His expertise includes protective coating and epoxy cladding applications, baked catalyzed coatings, electric arc alloy spray, and the full-length tube ID coating application method used to restore condensers and exchangers in place. Jason holds NACE Level III Coating Inspector certification (#11860) and has been instrumental in advancing Curran’s proprietary maintenance processes.

A Career Without Borders

Jason’s career has taken him across the globe — Argentina, Chile, Western Europe, Hawaii, and countless locations across North America. In just the past two years, he has logged nearly 100,000 air miles annually to direct complex projects.

One of the most unique assignments he’s led involved refurbishing end-of-life steam condenser tubes, restoring through-walled tubes back to service, and preventing future failures with Curran’s down-tube coating process.

Life Outside the Job

When not managing global operations, Jason channels his energy into fishing and hunting with his wife, Genevieve, and their two sons, Tyler and Chad. Both are skilled anglers — Tyler even won the 2006 Texas CCA Star Teen Tournament Scholarship with a 6 lb., 1 oz. flounder. The family spends weekends chasing trout across the Galveston Bay area, often from their 22-foot, 300 HP fishing boat.

Hunting is another passion, with Jason regularly pursuing wild hogs and sharing the bounty — in the form of homemade sausage and bacon — with fellow Curran employees. His outdoor adventures have taken him as far as Cordoba, Argentina, for a world-class dove hunt.

A Future Still in Motion

After decades with Curran International, Jason has no plans to slow down. His focus remains on delivering high-quality maintenance solutions, mentoring crews, and meeting the most demanding project deadlines. When asked about retirement, Jason simply says: “I plan to find a few more secret spots.”
