At Curran International, precise protective coatings for pressure vessels, drums, and kettles are a routine part of operations—whether in the shop or directly in the field. Curran’s expertise ensures flawless surface preparation, expert application, and the ability to adapt to varying environmental conditions. Advanced force-curing techniques set Curran apart in delivering reliable, long-lasting protective finishes.

Thermal Spray and Fluoropolymer Applications

Curran’s coating portfolio includes thermal-spray technology, where an electric arc melts alloy wire that is atomized and sprayed onto the substrate to provide a sacrificial barrier against corrosion.

Technicians at Curran are highly experienced with leading protective coatings, including:

  • Chemours products – PFA, PTFE, ETFE systems
  • Carboline, Durapol, International Protective Coatings, PPG Marine, Hempel
  • Saekaphen, Advanced Polymers/Chemline, Belzona

Examples of Curran applications include:

  • Internal vessel coating: Curran 1200 novolac epoxy
  • External coating: Carboline IOZ epoxy and urethane systems
  • Fluoropolymer coating: Hot-flock applied Chemours ETFE catalyzed at 625°F

Meeting Client Specifications

Refineries and petrochemical manufacturers rely on Curran coatings to protect mild steel and extend service life in corrosive environments. Every project begins with a pre-job meeting to review client specifications and develop an Inspection and Test Plan (ITP). Curran has consistently met or exceeded specifications across a spectrum of polymer technologies, including:

  • Epoxies
  • Fluoropolymers
  • Fusion-bonded epoxy (FBE)
  • Baked phenolic coatings

State-of-the-Art Facilities

Curran operates two full-service coating shops:

  • Houston, TX: Nearly 20,000 sq. ft. inside-shop capacity, 25-ton overhead crane, natural gas-fired oven capable of curing coatings up to 1000°F, and vessels up to 15’ diameter.
  • Edmonton, Alberta: Supports year-round coating projects with full shop facilities and force-curing oven.

From power plant waterboxes to H2S storage vessels, Curran technicians prepare, grit-blast, and apply coatings with precision, protecting gasket sealing surfaces and ensuring long-term service life.
