The Setting: Trinidad & Tobago
Located 760 miles north of the Equator and 5,456 miles southeast of Deadhorse, Alaska, the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago is the southernmost island nation in the Caribbean. Known for its African and East Indian/South Asian cultural heritage, and as the birthplace of steelpan, calypso, and the limbo, this tropical location offered quite a contrast to Curran’s recent Arctic project.
With temperatures rarely dropping below 61.9°F and daylight varying by only an hour year-round, conditions were ideal for rapid turnaround work.
The Challenge: Immediate Offshore Production Support
The end-client, an offshore production company operating near Trinidad & Tobago, needed urgent refurbishment of several air-cooled exchangers. A local engineering and industrial services contractor subcontracted Curran International for technical re-tube support, while providing mechanical labor locally.
The Work: Precision Under Pressure
- 10 tube bundles retubed
- 688 tubes replaced
- Steel structural supports on multiple exchangers replaced
- Hydro-testing performed to meet code requirements
Despite the tight holiday-season schedule, Curran worked with the prime contractor to source finned tubing within a short lead time, ensuring project milestones and budget targets were met.
The Results: Deadline Met, Client Satisfied
In just 17 days, the exchangers were refurbished, tested, and delivered back to the offshore platform for on-time February commissioning.
